Biography

Elly Baker was elected as a Londonwide Member of the London Assembly in May 2021.  

Elly lives in East London, where she grew up, and for the two decades before her election was a trade union activist and organiser, ensuring that workers get their fair share of the wealth they create. Elly worked across many industries, including transport, the arts and education. 

In her time at the Assembly, Elly has worked on key campaigns, fighting for fair funding for Transport for London, campaigning to save important bus routes, keep ticket offices open, for cheaper fares including concession rates for vulnerable groups and has consistently advocated for transport workers.

Last week’s elections to the London Assembly saw Ms Baker elected as a Londonwide Member of the London Assembly, alongside Mayor Sadiq Khan, who was elected for a historic third term.  She has thanked voters for putting their faith in her and promised to push for the delivery of promises made by Mayor Khan
